Wayside Holy Temple Church

About Wayside

A story of faith, growth, and service in the heart of Hattiesburg.

Our story

Small beginnings.
Faithful God.

“Faithful is our God!”

A ministry born from a Bible study, growing into a church with a heart for its community.

See how we serve
1995

A call to Hattiesburg

Pastor and Apostle Hughes served on the ministerial staff of Wayside Church of Deliverance in Clinton, Mississippi, under the leadership of the late Apostle Kathryn Williams. During their tenure, Apostle Williams sent them to Hattiesburg to begin a Bible study.

1997

A church is born

That Bible study grew, and Wayside Holy Temple Church was birthed in a little house on Franklin Street. In less than a year, the congregation outgrew the house and moved to a larger facility at 919 Edwards Street, where it remained for ten years.

2007

A place to grow and serve

The church built its current facility at 1000 Edwards Street. God has blessed the ministry with a debt-free church, a debt-free daycare, and the debt-free house on Franklin Street, which now offers shelter to those in need of a home.

Our heart

Serving beyond our walls

Wayside’s community focus includes a fellowship hall available for community events, an activity center used to teach basic computer skills, and rental houses and apartments offering shelter to low-income families. The fellowship hall is also planned for use by the city as a community voting precinct.

Our church home

A place to worship.
A heart to serve.
